115la Victoria Street West, Chesterfield Attached to the appropriately-named Victoria Public House is a GEC combined wall bracket and box supporting a Thorn Alpha 5 135 Watt SOX lantern. Given that the lantern runs a SOX lamp, rather than a 140 Watt - 200 Watt SLI/H lamp, as mine does, this Alpha 5 is likely to be a newer example. The lantern is not owned or maintained by the Council, and is likely to be a privately-owned installation belonging to the pub. With Victoria Street West being a side road, the use of a main road lantern seems rather incongruous, adding to the certainty of its private ownership.

The lantern is likely to have become obsolete when SON (and much later, LED) floodlights were installed on the pub's frontage. I am surprised that the bracket was not removed at this time.

The lamp appears to be intact within the lantern.

What appear to be the installation and wiring instructions for the lantern can be seen tucked behind the reflector, towards the rear of the lantern.
