116b. Footpath between the A6 North Parade and Holme Road, Matlock Bath Attached to buildings located adjacent this somewhat rickety and narrow stone set of steps are two council-owned GEC Z5760/1 bulkheads; with both still (as of 2010) fitted with 80 Watt mercury lamps. The two fittings are switched via a photocell on the building located closest to the A6. The photocell has been crudely attached to the box that would originally have contained a time switch. Seeing as the box looks to pre-date the Z5760/1s, I am assuming that the GEC fittings replaced earlier wall-mounted units. Given the unevenness of the steps, removing the older fittings and installing these cannot have been an easy task - perhaps this is why they have remained mercury-lit for this long.

A Z5760 entered my collection on Saturday, 24th April 2010. Click here to see pictures of it. Sadly, the above Z5760s were replaced with Holophane Wallpackette III LED bulkheads in 2020.
