17. Lawrence Rd, Plymstock, Plymouth. Around the old dock areas, new modern lighting is installed. However, behind a fence, a Concrete Utilities column Avenue 2D (as seen in 3) still survives, complete with a Thorn Beta 4 lantern. The column has been without a door for some time judging by the amount of rust on the ballast. (The rusting has probably been helped by all that salty sea air passing into it!) I doubt this works anymore, as the height of the grass would lead me to assume that no one has been on the column side of the fence for a good while. Davy Warren has an example of another Beta 4 from this area.

 

Thanks to fellow collector Louis Cunningham for informing me that this installation had gone by 2018.
