185d. Ash Grove, Shotton, Deeside Located approximately half way along this residential street is a GEC concrete column supporting a British Thomson-Houston Amber lantern; much the same as the installation pictured on page 182. Whilst there are other GEC concrete columns installed along this road, the remainder are not in this 'original' condition, with one having been sleeved, and the other having lost its Amber to a top-entry Thorn Beta 5 lantern - something of the indirect descendent of the Amber.

 

The Perspex bowl is in need of a clean, but is (otherwise) in good condition.

 

I am unsure as to whether the lantern remained equipped with a 35 Watt SOX lamp at the time of photographing in October 2019, or whether an LED retro-fit lamp had been fitted instead.
