29. A460, Cannock Rd, Wolverhampton. This is another old installation known by Claire. By the side of the railway bridge is an old Revo 90 Watt SOX cut-off lantern. It is very similar to #26 in Leek, however, due to its proximity to the railway lines, the cut-off version is used (as seen with the Alpha 10s in #20, Tutbury). According to Claire, this is the last lantern of its type in the Wolverhampton area, and it is likely that it will be going soon, as new columns are installed (and the day I visited, workmen were fitting cut-outs to them). The cut-off glass appears to be broken but it will obviously not be repaired now.

Update - 1st Oct 2003. The lantern was removed but was saved for another collector. Apparently, the cutoff glass was indeed broken, and the rimpled glass reflector plates had been lost through time. A cutoff WRTL Arc has been used to replace it.
