29. A460, Cannock Rd, Wolverhampton. This is another old installation known by Claire. By the side of the railway bridge is an old Revo 90w SOX cutoff lantern. It is very similar to #26 in Leek, however, due to its proximity to the railway lines, the cutoff version is used (as seen with the Alpha 10s in #20, Tutbury.). According to Claire, this is the last lantern of its type in the Wolverhampton area, and it is likely that it will be going soon, as new columns are installed (and the day I visited, workmen were fitting cutouts to them). The cutoff glass appears to be broken but it will obviously not be repaired now.
Update - 1st Oct 2003. This lantern has been removed now, but luckily it has gone into Simon's collection. Apparently the cutoff glass was indeed broken, and the rimpled glass reflector plates had been lost through time. A cutoff Industria Arc has been used to replace it.
