2. Onslow Rd, Mickleover. A recent large-scale replacement; Onslow Rd has been completely relit using Philips Iridiums with CDM-TT lamps and Philips Residiums with PL-L lamps (see the PFI article on the News page). I visited the estate during the day and at night and I am impressed by the quality of the light from both sources. I am a bit confused as to why they have been installed here though - there are no CCTV cameras, and the road seems to be a very quiet one - the sort where white light isn't really that necessary. The Iridiums use Royce Thompson Oasis 2000 cells; the Residiums use Microstar 2000 minicells, again made by Royce Thompson.

Some night pictures of the Iridiums now...

The Residiums are dimmer, however they are only used on side streets, so this is perfectly acceptable.

And again at night...(the large circular blob on the left hand picture is a raindrop - it was just starting to rain!)
