53. Off the A6 at Dove Holes. Under the ownership of a car dealers is a single Thorn Beta 6 fluorescent lantern. The columns that neighbour the one that this lantern is on are all fitted with floodlights, but at one time, they may well have also had Beta 6s fitted. The lantern probably still works as the lamps are intact inside. An SS4 photocell is fitted to the lantern, which may be original, although the NEMA socket is attached to a raised tube, probably because it would foul internal components if positioned on the canopy itself.

Sadly, this installation had been removed the next time I passed this way; however, two further Beta 6s were discovered in Dove Holes in 2017, and can be seen on the next page.
