5b. Penny Long Lane, Darley Abbey. Along this road are some elderly looking concrete columns, similar to the one in Little Eaton, where the bracket is made of cast iron. These do not appear to be made by Revo however; more like early Stantons. They are due to be removed very soon by the looks of things, as new columns with lampless Beta 2s have been installed alongside them, as in Mackworth.

This column has now been removed (5th March 2004).

It is now difficult to imagine this bracket having an ESLA or similar lantern in place of the Beta 5! Still, the column looks good in SOX light:
