87g. Wensley Road, Winster, Matlock. Attached to a building on the main thoroughfare through this quaint Derbyshire Dales village is a GEC Z5730 35 Watt SOX post-top lantern. Owing to this lantern including no provision for the lamp control gear to be situated within it, this is housed inside the wall bracket instead. Whilst a photograph taken in 1990 shows that at least one other Z5730 was installed along this road (left-hand side of the picture), today, only the one example remains.

The Z5730 is similar in appearance to the Z5698U; the long conical bowl being common to both types. One difference is the lack of a raised central section on the canopy; this only being required owing to the length of a 55 Watt lamp - the presence of a gear tray in the other lantern reducing the amount of space available. As there is no gear tray with the Z5730, the far end of the lamp would be positioned in the inside of the base casting.

The supply cable can be seen entering the underside of the bracket, after having passed through conduit for much of its length.
