Atlas Glow Discharge Lamps

Commemorative lamps to mark the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 2nd June 1953 (Edmonton, UK).

The lamp cap is marked:

When connected to an electricity supply, the Swedish Iron wire used in the construction of the crown and ER cipher emits a soft amber neon glow as a corona(tion) discharge. This is the cap-down version:

For completeness, this is the cap-up version. A small resistor housed within the cap serves as a ballast.
