6. Thorn Beta 5
Spotted on the 3rd February 2005 on a footpath off Ladybank Rd, Mickleover. I noticed that the lamp looked to be too low in the lantern, so I had a close look at it, and noticed that the barium getter of the SOX lamp was white, rather than the usual brown - this signifies that air has entered into the outer bulb. The lantern is therefore going to be completely unlit, or at best, it'll stay the neon red warm-up colour. It would depend on whether the arc tube was still intact or not.
What I think happened: I couldn't see any bullet holes in the bowl, so I'm wondering if the column was shaken, as this can cause outer bulbs of SOX lamps to break.
