Yes, the location of 26003 really was described as it appears above!
The following photographs were taken on Saturday, 11th June 2011.
A Thorn Beta 2 55W SOX lantern was first from City Road.
As the above inventory table suggests that the adjacent illuminated sign was attached to this column, which it clearly wasn't, I suspect that the original column here was probably replaced (and the signlight/plates fitted to their own dedicated post) after 1997.
The opposite signpost had already had its plates transferred to the new post. The Truesigns T8P/54 twin 8W fluorescent signlight was still operational at the time, however.
The next column seemed to be involved in playing a game of "Hide and Seek" - unfortunately, its lack of complete camouflage insured that it was still found relatively easily...
The Beta 2's little brother, the Beta 5, was attached to the next outgoing column.
This was 5m in height, whereas the preceding columns were all 6m in height.
Another Beta 5 was installed on a Fabrikat base-hinged column on a gated-off footpath leading to City Road - this installation carried the number of the column whose location was unknown in the above inventory table.
The lantern's bowl clip was missing; hence the (not completely successful) use of insulation tape to secure the bowl to the lantern body.
