Local Urbis Evolos

The Evolo is confined to one very small section of road in Derbyshire - the A52 dual carriageway between Spondon and the roundabout for Stapleford and Toton (in Nottinghamshire). This section of the road falls under the control of the Highways Agency, as opposed to a local authority, which explains the different choice of lantern on this stretch, compared to the lanterns used on the Derby and Nottinghamshire Council-owned sections. Prior to the installation of these lanterns to the existing columns, this section was lit with Philips MA 60 180 Watt SOX lanterns.

These pictures were taken from the convenient footbridge that allows safe pedestrian access across the A52 from Borrowash Road on the south side, to Stoney Lane, on the north side.

The lanterns are group controlled; hence, the absence of photocells on their canopies.

The lanterns feature a highly streamlined canopy and a low profile curved bowl.

A little further towards Derby, several single-arm examples can be seen. Notice that the lantern is missing from the bracket attached to the column immediately behind this one.

Heat-sinking grooves are present in the underside of the lantern's chassis.
