CU Phosco P177

Thanks to Simon Brown for this lantern.

Please note that this lantern is no longer in the Collection.

The P177's canopy extends well over the bowl - presumably as a way of preventing moisture from dripping down into the bowl. The slim canopy and deep bowl seem to suit each other.

From above, the lantern bears a slight resemblance to the Thorn Beta 7.

The plastic bowl is moulded with a series of parallel ribs to distort the light output. These are not prismatic refractors and do not concentrate the output in any specific direction. Notice that the bowl support ring is held in place using the characteristic Phosco 'key'.

The insides of the lantern are in need of a repaint but are generally in a good condition. As can be seen, the P42 detector's wires have been cut right back. The coloured stickers represent different lamp change dates.
