Revo Prefect
Lantern acquired in November 2004.
This is my second Prefect, and funnily enough, it is also an eBay win. I'm not sure where it came from, but the seller's location was in the Dover area. Rather than being mounted on a swan neck, it is mounted on an AC Ford wall bracket. Sadly, this lantern is not in as good a condition as my first Prefect, but I still should be able to sort it out nonetheless.
(Do not adjust your monitor - the picture is meant to look like this!) The Prefect, shown in its as-received condition. The paint, although still quite good in parts, has completely gone from the bracket, and so this piece is now very rusty. The bowl shown here is actually from my other Prefect, as the glass one that came with this one does not fit too well for the time being. The refractor is missing. The AC Ford box is exactly the same as the Bell Top's one, except that it doesn't have a spigot casting. The wing nuts that lock this this box are jammed, but hopefully they'll loosen up with a bit of oil. In fact, a lot of the threaded components have jammed, which will make restoration all the more difficult.
This is the original glass bowl. It had been cleaned prior to this picture being taken, as glass cleans up very well. There does appear to be a slight yellow tint to it, but it is actually completely clear.
Opening the box reveals just how much equipment has been crammed into it - the ballast, capacitor, P42 terminal block and cutout all have a place. The hole in the top of the box was probably drilled to provide somewhere for the P42 detector to be positioned.
