Davis Starline 70
Thanks to Steve Rowe for this lantern. This lantern is believed to have been used somewhere in the Torbay area. As with this lantern's sister design, the GR 70, there are no Starlines in use in Derbyshire.
This lantern is no longer in the collection.
The lantern is in quite a poor condition - the bowl clip has broken off and the gear tray is difficult to close due to the ballast being in the way. Also, the GRP canopy is weathered and fibres are being released at a rate of knots!
The heat emitted during operation has kept the majority of the canopy relatively clean - only the cooler rear section has more ingrained dirt.
Two reflectors and a baffle plate over the lamp provide some optical control.
What looks to be the mother of all block connectors is fastened on the inside of the canopy in the gear area.
