Station Rd Replacements

In mid-late 2004, it was decided that night-time accidents on Station Rd, in Mickleover, Derby, were on the increase and that the lighting along the road was inadequate due to the well-developed trees obscuring lanterns, and so replacement, so-called 'brighter' lanterns were ordered. Unfortunately, the existing lanterns mainly consisted of Thorn Alpha 1s, a favourite lantern of mine, and so I decided that it would not do for such interesting lanterns to simply disappear without trace. I therefore made the decision to try and document the replacement programme as best I could, so that the Alpha 1s (and indeed, whatever other lanterns on the road) could be remembered for years to come.
