174AAA. Dunlop Way, Castle Vale, Tyburn, Birmingham With thanks to Leo Conway for discovering these Survivors. Installed throughout Dunlop Way are a number of 30 ft (9·14 m) tubular steel columns, with all but two of these now supporting LED lanterns. The two that do not, still retain their original GEC Z9454s, which run 90 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps. These columns happen to be installed beyond a gate, and on a section of road that leads only to a B&Q DIY store, so the ownership of this portion of road may be with the store too. The roadway may have been constructed to serve a former chemical works that occupied the land formerly, according to historical maps, as the position seems to match. Thus, the installations may pre-date the land's current use as The Fort Industrial Park.
The Z9454s seem out of proportion on these columns, which is what makes me believe that the mounting height is 30 ft, rather than the usual 25 ft (8 m) normally used for 90 Watt lanterns.
The long outreach brackets also alter the scale of the lanterns.
Some minor damage exists to the Z9454's acrylic bowl.
Meanwhile, the second bowl is secured using two cable ties.
