174AAC. Egerton Road, Tyburn, Birmingham With thanks to Leo Conway for discovering this Survivor. Situated on land outside the former GKN Automotive factory is a 15 ft (5 m) triangular-based Thorn aluminium 'Leader' column supporting a Type 2 top-entry bracket, and the remains of a Beta 4 lantern, designed for running up to 150 Watt GLS (incandescent tungsten filament), 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) and 50 - 70 Watt SON (high pressure sodium) lamps. Depending on the age of the installation, it could even be an AEI (Associated Electrical Industries) product, in which case, the lantern would then be a 'Kirby' instead.

The column is located adjacent a former car park for the factory, near the entrance to Sorrel Park.

The bowl is missing from the lantern, revealing the smashed remains of a lamp, surrounded by a heavily-corroded aluminium reflector.

The construction of the lamp suggests that it was an MBF type when intact.
