72AF. Porter's Farm Court, Marchington, East Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Attached to a property that borders the junction of this small cul-de-sac with the High Street is a GEC Z5760 bulkhead, for 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium), 50 - 120* Watt SON (high pressure sodium - *the 120 Watt rating was unique to GEC/OSRAM) and 50 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps; the type fitted here not being known. This is the only street lighting unit on the entire road; the adoptable area not being long enough to warrant the installation of any further units.
The use of a wall-mounted fitting is a little surprising, considering that a footway is constructed below it, where a column could have been installed; however, the footway is quite narrow, and adding a column would have reduced the width to pedestrians still further.
The polycarbonate cover is not heavily yellowed, which it would be, had an MBF lamp been used.
An AC Ford fuse box located further down the wall allows the supply to the Z5760 to be isolated when necessary. Surprisingly, despite this installation being likely to date from the 1980s, a red stripe was painted over the front of the box, to signify the presence of an asbestos door seal. The subsequent yellow paint application indicates that the asbestos has been replaced with an alternative, safer, material.
