97AD. Off Stafford Road, Dimbles, Lichfield, Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Located near the corner of Eastern Avenue, adjacent the roadway leading into The Spires Care Home (and, historically, Nearfield House), is a disused 15 ft (5 m) Stewarts & Lloyds tubular steel column. No lantern remains on the column, although a cast iron Revo fuse box is still fitted to the column spigot. Prior to the construction of The Spires, newer tubular steel columns supporting GEC Z5680 post-top lanterns were installed further down the roadway, as seen here, but this column still appeared redundant by then.
The column is easily overlooked, owing to the tree growth alongside.
The narrow top section to the fuse box suggests that it would have supported a bracket originally.
Despite the column having a wide base, it didn't seem to have an inspection door, oddly.
"Revo Tipton" is cast into the fuse box cover.
