97KEA. Off Old Hednesford Road, Hednesford, Cannock Chase, Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of these Survivors. Installed along this short cul-de-sac leading to various industrial premises are three older lighting installations - the most prominent of these being a 25 ft (8 m) tubular steel column supporting an ELECO GR 150, for 135 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamps. This setup seems slightly overboard for the width of the area in which it is installed, though it may serve to provide overall area lighting to the industrial units. There is also a column supporting a Thorn Alpha 8 (for 150 - 250 Watt SON (high pressure sodium) lamps), as well as a swan neck bracket attached to a wall in a similar to way to the examples seen on the previous page are, which supports a Thorn Beta 5, for 35 Watt SOX lamps.

The column supporting the GR 150 is seen in the foreground, with the Alpha 8 located behind.

The detector for a Royce Thompson P42 two-part photocell is present on the ELECO's canopy.

The Alpha 8 is misaligned on its bracket, and the bowl is missing. As well as being fitted with a one-part NEMA-type photocell, a P42 detector has been added here too.

Meanwhile, the Beta 5 does not have its own photocell, although a NEMA socket wall bracket, with a Zodion SS4, is attached to the swan neck bracket.
