Off the A517 Ashbourne Road, Hulland Ward, Derbyshire Dales Attached to one of the external walls of the Black Horse Public House by means of three individual short outreach brackets produced by AC Ford are lanterns resembling Wardle 'Murray' products, for 100 - 150 Watt GLS (incandescent tungsten filament) or 80 - 125 Watt MB / MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. Although the lanterns do look similar to the Murray, they are not quite the same at the neck part of the canopy, so could be products from an alternative manufacturer. Presumably, these were rescued by an owner of the pub after removal from service as actual street lights, and would provide subtle illumination to a walkway around the rear of the building. At the time of writing, the pub is described as being "temporarily closed", so hopefully, they will survive any future reopening or refurbishment work that occurs.
Two of the three brackets are seen below, with the third being obscured by the bay window.
Although all three lanterns are now missing their 'Dielikon' Perspex refractors, Google Street View imagery suggests that at least two of them still retained these in 2011.
Clear envelope LED GLS lamps are now fitted in the three lanterns.
The black paint is seen to be peeling quite heavily on the third lantern, exposing an earlier green coat.
