Off Shilo Way, Awsworth, Giltbrook, Broxtowe, Nottinghamshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Attached to a wooden pole near the entrance to a small scrap yard complex is a side-entry Simplex Gemini, designed for running a 35 - 55 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamp. The Gemini was a common sight in Nottinghamshire in the years prior to mass replacement with equivalent LED fittings, and indeed, this installation may have once been maintained by the County Council. Today, however, it lies disused and abandoned, as the lane upon which it is to be found looks to be private and un-adopted, although a public footpath does pass along the route.
As well as the street lighting bracket, the wooden pole also supports both mains electricity and telecommunications cables.
Unusually, the bracket appears to be a regular type (that would be placed atop a column ordinarily) that has been adapted to fit on the pole.
Owing to the front bowl hinge having been broken, the bowl sags slightly open at the front. No lamp remains within the lantern, although a Zodion photocell is still fitted to the NEMA socket on the canopy.
