Off Bun Lane, Great Chatwell, Blymhill-and-Weston-under-Lizard, South Staffordshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of these Survivors. Installed within the sizeable car park of the Red Lion Public House are five Fabrikat 5 m tubular steel columns supporting AC Ford swan neck brackets and AC 850 lanterns, with each (possibly) configured to run an 80 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamp. I would estimate these installations to date from the early-mid 1990s, judging by the style of the Fabrikat logo that is stamped on the column doors, though the design of the swan neck brackets and the lanterns themselves would convey the impression of older lights, owing to the AC Ford product designs changing little over the decades.
Moving in an anti-clockwise direction around the car park, this column is in the bottom-right corner.
An indicator that these swan necks are modern is the use of grub screws, rather than bolts, to secure the spigots to the columns.
The polycarbonate bowls all demonstrate their classic yellow appearance caused by the combination of UV degradation from the sun and the lamp itself.
Two further columns are installed on the right-hand side of the car park.
Although there appears to be a NEMA photocell socket on the fronts of these lanterns, neither is fitted with a photocell.
The tilt on the background lantern appears steeper than on that of the foreground lantern.
The car park narrows at its far end, with the columns here being installed roughly opposite each other.
Some type of Royce Thompson photocell is fitted to the example seen on the right in the above picture.
A Sirebeck cell controls the opposite AC 850; this could easily be the lantern's original photocell.
The final column is installed a little further back down the car park.
This too uses a Sirebeck cell. Given that all of the lanterns are fitted with NEMA sockets, those that no longer have a cell installed may have had them originally, with the cells having detached over the subsequent years.
