C Stock Explorer Rail Tour - Other Photographs

1973 Stock Driving Motor car 104 at Uxbridge.

The Dot Matrix Indicator at Acton Town showed the C Stock train as terminating at the station; this was not completely incorrect - all passengers on the tour alighted at this point, in order that the train could reverse in the siding to the east of the platforms. The second destination shown is probably what all of the normal passengers watching on thought was an apt description of the enthusiasts who had suddenly appeared at the station!

One of the elegant Art Deco windows of the Holden-designed Northfields station (flipped picture).

Although C Stock trains had been withdrawn from service on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines by the date of the tour, they were still operational on the District line between Edgware Road and Wimbledon. Here, we see C69 Driving Motor 5594 at Earl’s Court, en route to Edgware Road. D78 Driving Motor 7080 can be seen behind. I like the ‘stepped’ appearance created between the two stocks, and the ‘S7’ stopping marker located ahead of the D Stock.

Looking out of the rear cab’s ‘M’ door window on the approach to Upminster.

Another ‘S7’ marker; this one is at Aldgate East.
