Main Street, Lullington, South Derbyshire With thanks to AgentHalogen_87 for informing me of this Survivor. Attached to a corner of a building known as The Old Post Office is a Revo 'Bell Top' C14408/T lantern, designed for running 60 - 200 Watt GLS (incandescent tungsten filament) or 80 - 125 Watt MBF (mercury vapour) lamps. Today, however, the lantern runs an LED retro-fit lamp that is designed deliberately to mimic the appearance of an elliptical discharge lamp, though it did, for a time, run a GLS lamp for the novelty value - previously, a 1980s' Thorn Beta 5 running a 35 Watt SOX (low pressure sodium) lamp was affixed to the bracket instead; a replacement for an earlier lantern running (in all likelihood) GLS too.

The installation is to be found on the northern side of a small triangular junction, with a classic K6 telephone kiosk being located in the centre; now used to store a defibrillator device, as well as a community book swap point.

The top-entry finial at the end of the bracket (seen here painted Brunswick Green) is also a Revo product.

The LED lamp is roughly the same size as a 125 Watt MBF lamp would be. A non-original tapered polycarbonate bowl ensures that the lantern interior is kept relatively clean, while a glass refractor dome offers a small amount of beam distribution.

A length of PVC Twin-and-Earth cable supplies the lantern. The lack of any enclosures for housing discharge lamp control gear (as the Bell Top is not able to accommodate gear itself) provides a strong likelihood for the lamp being LED.

The electricity service enters a cast iron fuse box by means of a lead service cable. Both of these are likely to date back to when a street light was installed at this location many decades earlier; however, the Venner Time Switch enclosure alongside dates from when the Bell Top was fitted - the previous Beta 5 featuring its own internal photocell provision. Old paint witness marks on the wall confirm that an identical Venner product was used here originally.

Owing to the design of the Venner enclosure, the inner cores of the feed and switched cables are exposed beneath it, as they terminate into their respective terminals.

This view from the other side of the road demonstrates the rather unusual layout of the adjacent junction.
